What is the Best Affiliate Marketing Program? Wealthy Affiliate or MLSP?

Is it Going to Be MLSP or WA? – Has This Fight Between the Best Affiliate Marketing Programs Been “Fixed”?

Still in the Ring!

I wouldn’t say that… but it seems we may have come to the 7th and FINAL Round!

What I will say is that I believe this battle has taken on a life of it’s own.  Some of the comments I’ve received onsite and off have been nothing but full of gratitude and well-received.  I send my deepest thanks to all of of you that have participated in this event!

With that said, and in the spirit of a good match, I don’t want to drag out what may be a fight that simply can’t be won by one contestant or another, the title is up for grabs by either one, literally.  The truth is to answer the question we started with requires individual choice, and shouldn’t be decided by a referee.  So I’ll ask it again…

“What is the Best Affiliate Marketing Program?” – A Question of Character

As I’ve mentioned on previous pages within this post, it’s highly dependent on what type of person you are.  This is where we talk about what it takes as an individual to participate in either of these programs.  We’ve discussed at length about the foundation of each program, the heart of their communities, their valuable training, their social reach, their worth to the consumer, their ability to withstand the punches, etc.

Now it’s time to get serious…

I could continue to have each participant “weigh in” on their own merits, but what I’ve discovered while writing this article is that you can only go so far before you begin bashing one or the other to make one look better than the other.  That’s NOT what this review was intended to do.  As a participant in both systems (member of WA, affiliate of MLSP), I feel no need or desire to try and make one look better or worse, especially when each one has it’s pluses and minuses.  It has to remain in your hands in relation to who you are as an individual.

Back to Basic Training

Before you decide what it is you want to get into (especially if it’s based on my recommendation or lack thereof) you’ll want to do some soul searching.  I implore everyone reading this article to look at themselves truthfully and base your decision on what you discover inside yourself, not just based on my “yay” or “nay” of either system.

I’m going to briefly go over a VERY touchy subject when it comes to internet marketing.  Sometimes we just have to get to the meat and bones before we can really see what’s on the inside.

Multi-level Marketing (MLM)

There’s that infamous “it’s a pyramid scheme!” thing again.  At first glance, many people in business don’t trust MLM , but there is also an ever growing population of marketers who are being led to believe that it’s a completely lucrative and ethical form of marketing. Making it possible for anyone to make butt-loads of money online.  I’m here to tell you that one of them is right and the other is willfully ignorant.

MLM (a.k.a. direct-sales) is a business model that was established in the 60’s and for some unknown reason (well, not really) it’s still around today.  The inherit problem with MLM is that the business model is simply not sustainable as a long-term business.  Facts are facts and there have been several before me who have taken the time and effort to hash out all the details and numbers to prove it.  I’ll be posting more on this as time goes on…watch for it.

One of the main reasons that MLM companies still exist (such as Amway/Quixar, Herbalife, etc.) is because the regulations that are in place to safeguard the population are not administered to the fullest extent the law allows.  It’s only when the FBI or state government hears enough of the outstanding complaints about a particular MLM company that the hammer falls and someone goes to jail.  Usually 9 times out of 10, a company is shut down and reopens under a new name, since there are no licenses required or strict regulations to follow in order to open an MLM business.

Another reason is that many MLM’s are self-destructive and fall apart on their own before any legal recourse is taken.  But that’s not to say many a gullible, yet hopeful new distributor isn’t (taken, that is).

By federal law, for any company that uses a direct-sales model to remain legal, they must sell a higher percentage of their product (skin creams, health drinks, patches, etc.) to consumers who are NOT distributors than they do from recruiting.  If you compare nearly every MLM structured business out there, you’ll find that is not what’s taking place.  Nearly all of the sales made of the products distributed are being purchased by the distributors!  Most of the time these same distributors are unable to unload the products onto anyone else, less maybe some family and friends.  Many times they are given away as “promotional items” in an attempt to recruit a potential distributor into the opportunity.

Herein Lies the Dilemma with Deciding on a Winner…

Ask yourself a few of these questions (please be truthful with yourself):

  • Do you feel comfortable prospecting people?
  • Do you want to sell products that, if so valuable to the consumer, can’t be sold on the open market like any other product?
  • Do you want to have to pre-purchase your inventory (maintain quota) in order to stay involved with the company you work for?
  • Do you want to pay a premium for products that usually don’t measure up to products already for sale on the open market?
  • Do you want to constantly be “on the run” attempting to build/rebuild a team of distributors that are trying to sell the same things you’re selling within your own territory?
  • Do you want to injure your relationships with friends, family or community groups all while trying to sell them products they don’t need or want?
  • Do you want to train (I prefer manipulate) people to do this very same thing to others?

  • Do you like to or have a talent for writing?
  • Do you like to learn new things?
  • Do you want to build a business from scratch based on what you LOVE to do?
  • Do you want to learn something new that you could write/blog about while you learn it?
  • Do you want real world marketing training that teaches you how to sell products that people are searching for everyday?
  • Do you want some creative freedom to do things when you want and how you want, with no worries about upsetting others because you’re trying to “get them” into your opportunity?

If you answered YES to any of the first six questions, then perhaps you should question your marketing morals.  At least that’s my opinion, thousands of others would tell you otherwise, because that’s who they are and that’s how they function in the marketing world.  Deep down they are multi-level marketers and proud of it.  More power to them.

If you answered YES to any of the second set of questions, you’re on a path that could lead you to internet success without having to question your company’s ethics or your personal morals.  I commend you and would love to work with you in the future.  Please stay in touch and tell me all about your hurdles and successes!

The Final Decision?

Ultimately, the final decision is YOURS!  I know we only made it through 7 rounds of an anticipated 10 round bout. But, after promoting this event to heights I wasn’t expecting to go, I felt it was time to come down and come clean.  I started long ago in internet marketing and have used it exclusively for many of my business ventures, but now it’s my time to lead and I’m not about to lead others down a path of potential destruction.  Therefore, this article was born out of a necessity to inform my readers.

MLM’s are destructive.  Sure people make money in them, don’t get me wrong.  But, they are not self-sustaining and rely on recruiting members in order to succeed.  Period.  Others can try to make you believe otherwise, but the truth cannot be denied, plain and simple.

MLSP caters to the MLM society, even though it’s NOT an MLM, per se.  On the outside, MLSP is an “affiliate marketing and training platform” that teaches internet marketing, while at the same time helps a member build a lead base for their “ABC” MLM company.  On the inside, however, and when used as most people are taught within the system (recruiting new members to MLSP), MLSP mirrors just about any other MLM company.  Sure, they sell digital products vs. weight loss or power drinks, but the majority of the income created by it’s members comes from the recruiting of new members.  Mastery Members make $100 of every $149/mo. membership fee (Of course I’m not eligible for this kind of payout as a mere affiliate), not from the sales of MLSP product to non-members.

So, if MLM is your thing, then I have given you all of the data available to me as an affiliate (which means I don’t participate in any kind of MLM, but I offer the training and BEST lead system I know of for sale to anyone that wants to take that path).  MLM is not my thing, and it took me a couple years of “mindset training” (de-programming) to get beyond it, but I managed…so consider this my advanced warning to you.  There’s a reason I don’t participate in any kind of multi-level marketing company and I hope I’ve made my reasons perfectly clear for you.

Or, don’t accept my advice…  Maybe you’re already involved in an MLM? Then, I would highly recommend you join MLSP,  if you can afford to.  It’ll certainly help your progress, generate targeted ads and you would be able to take part in a like-minded community, full of success stories.

MY Winner Is…

I have my own opinion, and I made my own choice.  You should also.

I know for a fact niche websites WILL earn you an income.  I’ve been hard at work developing my skills as a marketer, a website builder and trainer, a social media expert and a G+ Hangout coach.  I’ve come a long way and it’s time I share my wealth of knowledge with all of those that will benefit from it!

Wealthy Affiliate caters to the up and coming webmasters of the world or anyone with a passion to stray from the herd mentality.  At the same time a member can participate in a community of folks all doing the same thing, living out what they love!

I love building websites, learning new things, the concept of making money online and I love talking about it to others.  I love to write, and helping others develop their passion.  I love teaching about computers, tools and shortcuts and building “bare-bones” machines.  I love creating things on computers and tinkering with images….I love, I love, I love…. are you getting it yet?

If you’re anything like me and  you’ve been looking for a way to work at online marketing without questioning whether you can do it or not…then you’re standing in the same corner of the ring that I am.

Of course, the winner you side with is an individual choice, and I leave that entirely up to you my friend.

DING…DING…DING!  This Battle is OVER!  Gloves down! (Sorry, no KNOCKOUT this time!)

Never give up on the career of your dreams…fight for it and you will attain it!

Become a Champion!

  1. Hello Leland! I’m enjoying your WA / MLSP articles.

I was introduced to affiliate programs through Wealthy Affiliate, and their many trainings and fantastic support system has helped me to get through the initial difficulties of launching an online business out of what i considered was “just a hobby”.

The best thing I like about Wealthy Affiliates is the wonderful sense of community. everyone wants to see each other succeed! And when everyone takes interest in one another’s success, great things begin to happen 🙂

As for MLSP, it seems to have many benefits of their own as well. All in all it seems like the choice is what’s best for the individual as they both seem to have a great system in place.

Great articles you’ve got here, keep ’em coming! : )

    1. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the article series, which is yet to be completed! And you’re right, each system on it’s own is strong and well-built. The main thing is that each system is geared toward a different audience and many try to compare apples to oranges in reviews that aren’t really covering all the topics that need to be brought to light.

I plan to end the confusion once and for all. I still have many friends in MLSP and hope to maintain those relationships in the future. Of course, not everyone will agree with the rawness of my article series, but truth be told, that’s not my concern. I just want the newcomers to be fully informed on both systems so they can make an informed decision as to which is the right one for them.

      Thanks again for stopping by!

  2. Pssh….

No disrespect towards MLSP or anything but it doesn’t bring nearly as much value to the table that WA does, as seen with your comparison table!

I’ve been apart of MLSP before, lets just say that I didn’t make squat with what they teach but I’m now making $1,000’s each month with WA 🙂

Thanks for this awesome post, looking forward to more!

    1. None taken Colton! If you did manage to read the full depth of my 7 page article I think you saw I agree with you. MLSP is geared toward MLM, which doesn’t work well with me either.

Thanks so much for your input. I’m certain we will be building a long term relationship over at WA! Your sites are awesome! Glad to hear of your much deserved success!

  3. Thank you for this detailed unbiased review and you have used both products. Have always wondered why some people review products they have not used.

    1. You’re welcome Harriet. I don’t believe in providing reviews for thing I’ve never participated in, it’s just bad business. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
