We’re putting Wealthy Affiliate (WA) and My Lead System Pro (MLSP) into the ring together to see if one will come out on top.  This head-to-head competition will finally answer the often asked question of “What is the Best Affiliate Marketing Program?” The Final Decision just might SURPRISE you…

Round 1 – The Battle Begins for Title of “Best Affiliate Marketing Program”

As a active affiliate of both programs, I figured who better than myself to put a spin on all of the “honest reviews” out there by making an in-depth comparison of the features, communities, pros and cons and pricing of each?  Due to the amount of information I’ll have to cover, I will be doing this in several parts.  I’m doing this in real time over the next couple of days (or weeks).  I will create as many posts as it takes to cover ALL of the bases so you can make an informed decision about which system is right for you.

I’ve not only been an affiliate of MLSP since 2012, but was an “all-in” Mastery Member for nearly two years.  Back in 2013, I was one of the more involved players that went through their prestigious “100 Day Biz Builder Challenge” and was invited to include a training of my own as a bonus module within the upgraded product, a product of MLSP that has evolved dramatically since it’s inception, and regretfully, no longer includes my bonus because I am no longer a Mastery Member!  Sigh.

I have been an member of Wealthy Affiliate since November 2014 and just recently upgraded to a Premium Member.  A decision I was more than happy to make after hours of digging into the system and seeing what was available in the Starter Package.

Now you may be thinking to yourself…”Oh, he’s trying to pitch MLSP over WA…”  -or- “He’s bashing MLSP to promote WA“, but you would be incorrect on both fronts.  As you will see, I don’t work that way.  Please bear in mind, I’m not here to take sides on either program, nor am I here to discredit either program in any way…but I will be brutally honest where it is necessary.  I do personally prefer using one system over the other because it suits MY needs better.  Your experience and needs may be the same or different than mine.  Both programs have their upsides and downsides.

The fact is this…these two systems aren’t really on par when it comes to a full comparison.  So why would I even attempt to put these two systems head-to-head?

Simple, they both serve different audiences and have different types of training available on an individual level and most of the reviews on these two systems don’t take these things into consideration.  Though some have touched upon it, many use one against the other to get you to sign-up with the program they’re currently involved in, which in no way is going to help YOU, the consumer and potential future member or affiliate of the program you choose.

Niche Site Building vs. MLM Lead Generation (WA vs. MLSP)

I prefer to place these two systems into two different categories.

The first, Niche Site Building (Wealthy Affiliate) the primary premise of WA is taking your passion (ie. dog grooming, hair styling, making money online, etc.) and creating a website(s) targeted toward helping those with similar interests.  Once you develop a following, your customers are led by you to products and services.  Whether they’re from various manufacturers, Amazon.com or products you create on your own, that are focused specifically toward that audience, and no one else.  Wealthy Affiliate also allows you to earn a modest monthly commission on each new referral you bring into the system, whether your in the Standard Package or a Premium Member.  A simple flow of the work environment in a niche building system is demonstrated by the graphic below.

The second, MLM Lead Generation (MLSP), is targeted more toward those involved with a multi-level marketing program as their primary business, though it it touted as and could possibly work with any business model.  MLSP makes it very clear to their audience, that they are NOT a business opportunity, but only an affiliate/training platform (though many make a living off the system referrals alone).  MLSP is also in the business of selling informational products and training materials.

mlsp-affiliate-programAs a “Academy” or “University” member, you basically work on building a list of prospects by collecting email addresses using “capture pages” that promote their top earners information and training products and recruit new subscribers to the system while offering your own MLM or B2B business opportunity on the back-end.

As one upgrades into each level, up to “Mastery“, members are entitled to more access in the system as well as 100% commissions (Mastery only). One can also earn a significantly larger commission on these same information products and when recruiting others into the system.  An example of the elaborate process used by MLSP is more of a “funnel marketing” flowchart as shown in the graphic to the left.  This type of marketing CAN and IS used on niche sites also.

Recent developments at MLSP actually allow you to create your own unique style of capture pages (“The Funnelizer”), which means you don’t have to promote the MLSP products. They’ve also built a CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) for contacting, tracking, responding and developing your lead list into a complete customer database!

The Similarities and Differences

As you can see, these two systems are really quite different, but they do have some similarities and cross-over paths, here are but a few:

  • Both are training platforms with a wealth of information in internet marketing
  • Both focus on helping others succeed online to leave their J.O.B.
  • Both have large, active communities (WA is a complete system, MLSP uses FB Groups/Forums)
  • Both have live, weekly training sessions to keep you abreast of current events
  • Both allow for creating profit through referral commissions as affiliate programs
  • Both have a monthly cost involved to access the full suite of their online system

Here’s a quick side-by-side comparison chart that I created in the back office of Wealthy Affiliates. This is something I found while preparing this article. Even though it is somewhat biased, it will help me make my points on each item of interest.

Now allow me to be perfectly clear, the chart doesn’t really do the comparison full justice.  In my next post I’ll explain in detail by going down the list of those items that will need better clarification.

  1. Hello Leland! I’m enjoying your WA / MLSP articles.

I was introduced to affiliate programs through Wealthy Affiliate, and their many trainings and fantastic support system has helped me to get through the initial difficulties of launching an online business out of what i considered was “just a hobby”.

The best thing I like about Wealthy Affiliates is the wonderful sense of community. everyone wants to see each other succeed! And when everyone takes interest in one another’s success, great things begin to happen 🙂

As for MLSP, it seems to have many benefits of their own as well. All in all it seems like the choice is what’s best for the individual as they both seem to have a great system in place.

Great articles you’ve got here, keep ’em coming! : )

    1. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the article series, which is yet to be completed! And you’re right, each system on it’s own is strong and well-built. The main thing is that each system is geared toward a different audience and many try to compare apples to oranges in reviews that aren’t really covering all the topics that need to be brought to light.

I plan to end the confusion once and for all. I still have many friends in MLSP and hope to maintain those relationships in the future. Of course, not everyone will agree with the rawness of my article series, but truth be told, that’s not my concern. I just want the newcomers to be fully informed on both systems so they can make an informed decision as to which is the right one for them.

      Thanks again for stopping by!

  2. Pssh….

No disrespect towards MLSP or anything but it doesn’t bring nearly as much value to the table that WA does, as seen with your comparison table!

I’ve been apart of MLSP before, lets just say that I didn’t make squat with what they teach but I’m now making $1,000’s each month with WA 🙂

Thanks for this awesome post, looking forward to more!

    Cheers!

    1. None taken Colton! If you did manage to read the full depth of my 7 page article I think you saw I agree with you. MLSP is geared toward MLM, which doesn’t work well with me either.

Thanks so much for your input. I’m certain we will be building a long term relationship over at WA! Your sites are awesome! Glad to hear of your much deserved success!

  3. Thank you for this detailed unbiased review and you have used both products. Have always wondered why some people review products they have not used.

    1. You’re welcome Harriet. I don’t believe in providing reviews for thing I’ve never participated in, it’s just bad business. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
