I’m out to answer the ongoing question: “Is the Wealthy Affiliate LEGIT, or a SCAM?” (Though I already know the answer, I think you’ll quickly discover it on your own.)
I took the liberty once already of putting Wealthy Affiliate (WA) to the test in my blow-for-blow battle series that began a few weeks ago with Round 1 – What is the Best Affiliate Marketing Program? WA or MLSP?. In that in-depth comparison review between Wealthy Affiliate (WA) and My Lead System Pro (MLSP), I focused primarily on the fact that as supposed “contenders”, they should have never been placed in a head-to-head comparison in the first place!
So, I’ll do my best to avoid repeating myself here.
This time around, I’m just going to focus on the singular, Wealthy Affiliate. Since there are so many crappy reviews out there (yes, I said “crappy”), I figure together we can go through the actual site itself, in some instances page by page, and cover all of the basic principles, purposes and processes of the entire Wealthy Affiliate platform.
As I’m writing this first page, it’s the 4th of July weekend, so this is going to be a work in progress. If you suddenly get to a spot that seems to just “dead-end”, it’s most likely because I’m still writing out the content! Which means you may have to come back later… there’s sure to be more here!
Wealthy Affiliate University, eh? Big, fancy name, so what it’s some kind of school?
Before we step inside, I’d just like to say that WA is not what a lot of people think it is. Some folks out there are comparing it to programs that aren’t even in the same league (like I did in my post linked above, but that was to make a point), others write trashy reviews of WA, and the rest will try and trick you into signing up for their systems by creating bogus, one page Wealthy Affiliate reviews. These sub-par reviews really doesn’t tell you anything about the program at all. Most of the people that write them have never been past the Wealthy Affiliate login screen. They don’t want you to see what’s inside WA…they just want you to sign up with them. But, I want you to see it for what it is…then you can decide if it’s right for you or not. This time around, prepare to be “schooled” in all things Wealthy Affiliate.
Isn’t Wealthy Affiliate Just Like Any Other Affiliate Marketing Membership Site?
First of all, let me tell you what Wealthy Affiliate is NOT like:
- ClickBank
- JVZoo
- Commission Junction
- …or any other affiliate product warehouse site.
These affiliate sites don’t require a fee to sign up either, but they are affiliate product sites that provide a user with affiliate links that send buyers to stuff they can earn money from. In other words, they are places for JV’s (Joint Venture partners) and affiliate marketers doing JV and affiliate product stuff.
WA isn’t an electronic warehouse of packaged products. They do promote a keyword research tool that was created by the developers known as “Jaaxy” (which I’ll cover in a future review) and offer access to a free writer’s community called “Street Articles“, but there is nothing else required to buy or sell to others in order to utilize the system. We’ll talk all about how you make money with Wealthy Affiliate in detail a bit later in this review.
Wealthy Affiliate is also NOT an MLM-based system like:
- My Lead System Pro (MLSP)
- Empower Network (EN)
- Internet Lifestyle Network (ILN)
- My Online Business Empire (MOBE/MTTB)
- …or any other MLM/Mindset/Infoproduct system.
WA doesn’t just hand you a “landing page” or a “marketing funnel” or “viral blogging platform”(that every other member is using in duplication) to lure people to the site, though they do have an awesome viral blog!) and Wealthy Affiliate never tries to hit you with any kind of repetitive “up-sells” like the other guys do. There is a monthly fee for the platform and that’s it. Wealthy Affiliate offers an annual DISCOUNT that saves you money, rather than tapping you out trying to sell you the “next best thing”.

What’s Up With All the Upsales Everywhere?
To make one thing perfectly clear, and I will digress for a moment, I’m not against “up-selling” to a customer. Up-selling is a means to keep your customer in buying mode long enough to get increased sales at the initial purchase point. That’s common business practice in most markets.
For example, my wife and I ran a six-figure automotive detail shop for two years that had 4 employees. We would often times “up-sell” just about every paying customer that came in the door (though not all the time!). Even though we felt our primary detail product sold itself and was a bargain, we’d make the extra effort when we felt it was right, to try and ring up sales on several upgrades to the detailing process such as:
- Acid baths
- Headlight Reconditioning
- Odor Removal
- Engine Cleaning
- Wheel-outs of Painted Surfaces
- Etc., etc.
There’s nothing wrong with trying to get a bigger sale out of a paying customer when they already have their hand on their wallets! What IS wrong, is when the goods or services being pawned off as “extras” or “upgrades” aren’t worth the paper, plastic or CD/DVD they’re printed on. Especially if they’re pushed as a required part of a process that should be able to stand on its own (ie. system won’t work as advertised without it). This is usually what happens when a system or product is a scam.
With many of these “elite” marketing sites, the initial cost only gets you in the door. We all expect to see subscription fees for sites that are considered a system, a program or a membership site. That’s fine, but the system should deliver some value for the monthly fee. Most of the systems listed above in the MLM category don’t deliver an ROI (Return on Investment) for what it costs to be a member ($1500-$12,000/yr). The only way to recoup your costs is to constantly recruit new members. Not everyone, including myself, likes the idea of always recruiting new members.
Ok, I get it…then what’s behind the Wealthy Affiliate login?
In order to see if a system is a scam or legit, we should probably climb inside, eh? As I said earlier, it bothers me when people write “reviews” about products they’ve never purchased or even ventured past the site’s front page! So I’ve decided to not only start the next section of this post with an incredible journey through the Wealthy Affiliate back office, but right along with writing this, I’ll be cutting a short video here and there that will walk you through most of the internal workings of WA so you can see for yourself what you’ll get in each program. Here’s just an example of what I mean:
As you can see, I have a lot to cover, so stick around as I dig even deeper into my EPIC Wealthy Affiliate Scam Review to answer the question:
“Is the Wealthy Affiliate Legit or a Scam?”
Once I peel back the curtain starting on the next page, I’ll take you into my own personal Wealthy Affiliate account and show you where it all goes from there.
Come on, let’s go … Click on Page 2 BELOW to step inside!
