Online marketing seems to be going through another growth spurt.  As more and more people are discovering ways to create and internet based business, the need to develop their newly found marketing skills and knowledge based on this long-standing medium have arisen.  More and more marketing strategies are being discovered and developed to cope with the changing face of business the business world.

The demand for online marketing tips and strategies have drastically grown and a new form of business has been born, internet marketing strategies.  While there are many individuals and companies alike that are all too eager to help your site and your business build a clientele for a fee, there also many ways that you can spread your wings, and word about your site’s existence in an effective and cost free way.  One of these is to build opt-in email lists and use email marketing.

Email marketing requires the permission of a willing customer to subscribe to your marketing materials, materials that take the form of newsletters, catalogs, data/cheat sheets and various other promotions via e-mail. The more your regular your mail is sent, the more chances there are to bring in sales.  To do this, you must build a list of all those who want to subscribe to your opt-in email marketing list.

Through your list, you will get access to your targeted customer, this is a good start since they already have shown interest in what you have to “show and sell”.  These are the same people who have liked what they have seen in your site and have decided they want to see more.  They have already in some unconscious way considered purchasing whatever product or service your company and site has to offer.

Many people think that building their email list will take hard work and a lot of time to collect enough email addresses to get ahead.  This is not so, it takes a bit of patience and some strategies but in creating this list, you open your site and your business to a whole new world and a global market.  Make the effort to take your business to a new level, if traffic increase and good profits are what you’re after, opt-in email lists will do wonders for your business ventures.

There are many sources and articles on the internet available for anyone to read and follow when building a list.   This might get confusing because there are so many different ways to do so.  Nearly everyone has different approaches in building an opt-in email list, but no matter how diverse the methods are, there are always crucial things to remember while you build your list.

Here are four of them.

1) Put up a good web form in your site that immediately follows the end of your content.

While some may say this is too soon to subscribe for a website visitors application, try to remember that your homepage should provide a good first impression.  If somehow a website visitor finds something that he or she doesn’t like or something that turns them off, you may just lose an opportunity for a new sign-up.

A good web form for subscribing to an opt-in list is not hard to do.  Just write a simple short statement about how they would like to see more and get updated about the site.  Then there should be an area where they could put in their name(s) and e-mail address. This web form will automatically save and send you the input.  As more people sign in, your list will begin growing.

2) As mentioned in the first tip, Remember: You home page is your first impression.

You should always have well written articles and descriptions of your site.  Depending on what your site is about, you need to capture your website visitor’s fancy within the first few seconds or they may just surf away.  Make your site useful and very easy to use, simple even . Do not expect everyone to be tech savvy. If you have the extra money, invest in having good programming put into your site, make your graphics eye-catching and beautiful, but don’t over do it.

Don’t waste your time making the homepage too overly large megabyte wise.  Not all people have dedicated T1 connections, believe it or not, some are still on dial-up/DSL!  So the faster your site gets loaded, the better. Go for a look that borders between simplicity and sophisticated knowledge.

3) Promote only the BEST Products you can find and Provide the BEST Customer Service.

A return customer is more likely to bring in more business.  Every now and then, a satisfied customer will recommend your site to someone else.  Word of mouth recommendations alone can rake in more business than an expensive ad.  As your clientele roster grows so will your list. With more members on the list, the more people will get to know about what you have new to offer.

4) Keep a Clean and Private list.

If you find that your emails are “bouncing” (not being delivered), never get viewed/opened or someone asks to be removed from you list…REMOVE THEM!  Keep your list CLEAN.  Most importantly though, NEVER do anything that could cause you to lose the trust your customers have given you.  If you provide your e-mails to others and they get spammed, many will probably unsubscribe.  You should make it a point to never share or sell the names and email addresses on your lists.  Remember, a good reputation as a trustworthy business person will drive in more traffic and subscribers as well as strengthen the loyalty of your customers.

Keep these four things in mind while building your opt-in email list and the end rewards will be in your favor.
